June 28, 2023

Media rights and venue development company adds two key roles as it continues to drive growth and provide white glove service across its national, regional and collegiate properties

San Diego, CA (June 27, 2023) – JMI Sports, a leading media rights and venue development company, today announced two key appointments to its multimedia rights leadership team, Senior Vice President Peter Thuresson, and Vice President, Adam Donaldson. Both will report to JMIS Properties President Paul Archey.

“Peter and Adam are exceptional leaders who have excelled in every step of their careers and have outstanding track records for maximizing revenue,” said Archey. “Both bring vast industry experience and innovative thinking to the JMI Sports team that will enhance the best-in-class service and results we deliver for our partners. The additions of Pete and Adam have us poised to take the next step in our ambitious growth plan.”

Thuresson will lead national brand sales and oversee all Western properties, including San Diego State University and the Mountain West Conference. He comes to JMI Sports from KORE, where he was head of brand revenue at the sports data and intelligence company. He led the go-to-market strategy and sales effort for the new Portfolio Optimization Platform which manages, measures and optimizes all aspects of partnerships for global brands. Prior to KORE, Thuresson spent several years leading commercial efforts as Senior Vice President, Corporate Partnerships at the Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers and Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. Thuresson was a founding member of the professional soccer club San Diego Loyal and served as Chief Commercial Officer of the startup USL Championship club.

Thuresson has continuously worked to refine his breakthrough partnership sales approach through integrated platforms blended with narrative and purpose-driven initiatives. This strategy has led to record-breaking sales at each stop and has dramatically impacted how sponsorships are sold. He is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College with a B.A. in Economics. Thuresson is based in JMI Sports’ San Diego office and he resides in Del Mar, CA.

“JMI Sports has built an incredible group of blue-chip properties and is a dynamic leader in multimedia rights and venue development,” said Thuresson. “I am thrilled to join this talented team and contribute to the growth of the company. I look forward to helping the company continue to achieve new heights and make a lasting impact in this rapidly evolving industry.”

Donaldson will be responsible for JMI Sports’ business development and oversee the company’s Northeast properties, including the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, Harvard University, the Atlantic 10 Conference, the Ivy League and the Patriot League. He will direct the company’s industry outreach and relationship development throughout the collegiate and professional marketplace to drive revenue through property acquisitions, events and strategic initiatives. Donaldson will work in lockstep with the leadership team to identify, develop, and execute strategic opportunities across the company’s multimedia rights and venue portfolios and identify areas of growth in different sectors.

Prior to joining JMI Sports, Donaldson led business development for Wonder Media Network, a startup media network focused on amplifying all underrepresented voices. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Athletics Director, Production & Media Partnerships for Notre Dame Athletics where he managed a team focused on production and media partnerships including live production, digital production, licensing, and digital partnership activation. In that role, he worked closely with NBC and ESPN on production operations, along with the Notre Dame Global Partnership team (a joint venture with JMI Sports and Legends) to develop, pitch, and manage all strategic media partnerships.

Notre Dame Athletics Director Jack Swarbrick tapped Donaldson to co-lead a cross-department committee in charge of shaping the university’s response to student-athletes being compensated for their Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL). He was also appointed by the Deputy Athletics Director to lead an internal committee in charge of Notre Dame’s NFT and Web3 exploration.

A former student-athlete of the University of Louisville, Donaldson won three Big East Championships with the Men’s Varsity Tennis Team over his four-year career and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Team Tournament. Donaldson received his MBA from the University of Notre Dame in 2020 and lives in Larchmont, New York with his wife, Kim.

“I’m thrilled to join the JMI Sports family and add to the growth and expansion of the company,” said Donaldson. “Having worked closely with JMIS during my time with Notre Dame Athletics, I know first-hand that the organization’s distinct culture of professionalism, innovation, and authenticity is something truly special. I’m grateful to Erik Judson and Paul Archey for this tremendous opportunity, especially during this transcendent time in college athletics.”
